Unfortunately, there have been several problems along the way, including missing checks, incorrect amounts and outdated IRS information ranging from income to number of dependents. Many parents have tried to use the IRS Update Portal to change their household details online, but the tax agency still hasn’t made that option available.
One option is to unenroll from the November and December checks altogether. Families with complicated tax situations, or even those who just prefer the rest of their money in 2022, can opt out before the next deadline of Nov. 1. It’s too late to unenroll from the October check.
