Chief Vince McDonald reported his department responded to 153 incidents in the previous month, with eight of those incidents being reportable crimes. Letters of recognition were awarded to Officers Bryce Lewis and Brandon Bayer for outstanding performance involving a traffic stop in November. Both officers went above and beyond in responding to a hazardous situation.
Shannon Darker and Dave Walasavage of Arro Engineering updated council on property violations and citations being issued. Walasavage said demolition is complete on the property at 119 South Liberty, and council approved paying MEI Demo and Excavation $26,125 for the demolition, retaining $1,375 for punch-list items.
A kickoff meeting with PennDOT is scheduled for Jan. 26 regarding projected work on Industrial Drive, which includes paving, storm water drainage and sewer installation and curbing.
Council approved paying $98,970 to H & K Group for paving projects in the borough following a $13,213 change order. The net sum of $88,315 is payable from Liquid Fuels funds. Council also approved a $10,655 payment for work done on Straub Avenue and Douglas Road, to be paid from the General Fund.
